For this one I copied some Vaseline ad (along these lines) from a magazine using one of my Christmas pencils, a Daler Rowney "Sanguine Sketching" pencil. Thought it would be interesting with skin tones. (It was completed on a very bumpy Baby Bullet between San Jose and San Francisco.)
Can anyone tell me what this ruddy pencil is ordinarily used for?

hey… did a quick check on it and found this- hope it helps:
“Technique
Sanguine lends itself naturally to sketches, life drawings, and rustic scenes. It is ideal for rendering modeling and volume. In the form of wood-cased pencils or manufactured sticks, sanguine may be used similarly to charcoal or pastel. As with pastel, a mid-toned paper may be put to good use. A fixative is often applied to preserve the finished state of the drawin”
