Half the Man I Used to Be

This was taken at a beach party July 19th, 2007. Andy (left) and I (right) have been trying to eat better and lose weight. Andy has lost a ton more than I have — when this picture was taken he’d already dropped like thirty pounds — but it’s really shocking to see my old bulk in contrast with what I have now.

A couple weeks after this I went to Art Unraveled in Phoenix. Kinda makes me cringe. Although I was aware that I didn’t want my picture being taken any more and that was a big motivator to stop eating crap food, so I guess it’s a good thing.

It just occurred to me: I spent much of that party flopping around in the sand playing volleyball. That must have been quite a sight. I’m really impressed that I did as well as I did. I should try it again this summer, 30-odd pounds lighter and with center of gravity where it belongs.

I’ll have to post another more recent one of me, standing up. And, in fairness, I should get one of Andy, too. He looks like a new man.
